CRCPD BOARD POSITION

Relating to: Refined Radium

The Board of Directors of the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. (CRCPD) adopts the position that sealed sources of refined radium, from throughout the United States and equipment contaminated with refined radium (i.e. luminous paint), should continue to be accepted by the State of Washington's Richland Low-Level Radioactive Waste Site. The Richland Site has been the only site that accepts these materials from the public since the end of 1992. No other site is expected to begin accepting these materials.
